LOCATION

Bulgaria is located in South-Eastern Europe and occupies the Eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. To the North, the country borders on Romania via the Danube River, to the East it touches the Black Sea, its southern neighbors are Turkey and Greece, and to the West it borders on the Republic of Macedonia and Serbia. The total territory of the country is 110 993 sq. km and Bulgaria ranks 15th in size among the other European countries.

NATURAL LANDMARKS
Bulgaria is proud of its 3 national and 10 natural parks that have preserved the diversity, unspoiled beauty and the uniqueness of its natural and cultural heritage. The National parks of Bulgaria are: Rila, Pirin and Central Balkan.

There are 98 reserves on the territory of the country, 17 of which are inhabited by different animal species. The most famous are: Boatin, North and South Djendem, Kamchia, Parangalitsa, Tsarichina, Skakavitsa, Bayuvi Dupki.
